Se puede usar \u201cthat\u201d (\u201cque\u201d en espa\u00f1ol) como pronombre relativo o como conjunci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<h2>Pronombre Relativo<\/h2>\n<p>Se puede usar \u201cthat\u201d para conectar dos clausulas. Como pronombre relativo, \u201cthat\u201d toma el lugar de una persona o cosa.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>He\u2019s the man. (\u00c9l es el hombre.)<br \/>\nHe helped me yesterday. (\u00c9l me ayud\u00f3 ayer.)<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s the man <strong>that<\/strong> helped me yesterday.<br \/>\n(\u00c9l es el hombre que me ayud\u00f3 ayer.)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Puedo juntar estas dos oraciones con \u201cthat\u201d. La informaci\u00f3n de la segunda oraci\u00f3n forma una cl\u00e1usula para dar m\u00e1s informaci\u00f3n del hombre (\u201cthe man\u201d).<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>He\u2019s the man. (\u00c9l es el hombre.)<br \/>\nI helped him yesterday. (Yo le ayud\u00e9 ayer.)<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s the man <strong>that<\/strong> I helped yesterday.<br \/>\n(\u00c9l es el hombre que ayud\u00e9 ayer.)<br \/>\n&#8211; o \u2013<br \/>\nHe\u2019s the man I helped yesterday.<br \/>\n(\u00c9l es el hombre que ayud\u00e9 ayer.)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u00bfPor qu\u00e9 en el primer ejemplo (\u201cHe\u2019s the man that helped me.\u201d) tengo que usar \u201cthat\u201d pero en el segundo ejemplo \u201cthat\u201d es opcional \u2013 \u201cHe\u2019s the man that I helped\u201d o \u201cHe\u2019s the man I helped.\u201d? La diferencia es que en el primer ejemplo \u201cthat\u201d toma el lugar del sujeto de la oraci\u00f3n y en el segundo ejemplo toma el lugar del objeto.<\/p>\n<p>Veamos otra vez estos ejemplos.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>He\u2019s the man. He helped me yesterday.<br \/>\nHe\u2019s the man <strong>that<\/strong> helped me yesterday.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>En el ejemplo arriba, \u201cthat\u201d toma el lugar del sujeto (\u201cHe\u201d) de la segunda oraci\u00f3n. Por eso es obligatorio usar un pronombre relativo como \u201cthat\u201d.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>He\u2019s the man. I helped him yesterday.<br \/>\nHe\u2019s the man <strong>that<\/strong> I helped yesterday.<br \/>\n&#8211; o \u2013<br \/>\nHe\u2019s the man I helped yesterday.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>En este ejemplo, el pronombre relativo \u201cthat\u201d toma el lugar del objeto de la segunda oraci\u00f3n (\u201chim\u201d). Por eso es opcional usar \u201cthat\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Nota: En estas oraciones podr\u00edamos usar otro pronombre relativo \u201cwho\u201d para decir \u201cHe\u2019s the man who helped me yesterday.\u201d o \u201cHe\u2019s the man who I helped yesterday.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Conjunci\u00f3n<\/h2>\n<p>Tambi\u00e9n se puede usar \u201cthat\u201d como conjunci\u00f3n. Es opcional usar la palabra \u201cthat\u201d en esa manera. Suena m\u00e1s formal usar la palabra \u201cthat\u201d que omitirla.
