Hi Janet, please correct me. In the web page (http://www.inglesmundial.com/Intermedio/Leccion6/Vocabulario.html), at the point 8, is it alright if I say ” They sat on the chair ” instead of “They sat in the chair”? I prefer to use “on ” if I talk about an armchair or a sofa. Is that alright? Thanks.

Generalmente decimos “in” con sillones o sofas (superficies con los brazos) pero “on” con sillas de comedor (sin brazos). Además, si una silla es más acolchada y cómoda, sería más común decir “in” porque te hundes en la silla cuando te sientas en ella. Con una superficie dura e incómoda, como un banco o un taburete de bar, decimos “on” – “Sit on the bench”.
